Flight and first day

[By Lisa]

Joe's jet lag protocol seems to have served us well.  We stayed up later and later the nights before leaving until most of us were up until about 4am on the final night.  This allowed us to sleep on the plane at 11:15am (San Francisco time).  The general result is that we all slept much of the initial 11 hour flight between SFO and Tokyo.

Trying not to sleep on the stopover but pretty exhausted!

Narita airport, 3 hour stopover

By the time we arrived in Bangkok, 24 hours later and at midnight local time we were all exhausted and ready to sleep.  We woke up at 9:30 local time and spent today out exploring, swimming and getting the kids their first taste of local Thai food.

After the kids swam and Joe and I did a (highly modified) Crossfit workout we headed out for dinner.

Tom Ka Gai (Coconut Chicken Soup)
Young Coconut Juice and Mint Shake

Tomorrow's plans include:

1) Grand Palace and Wat Pho
2) Thonburi Snake Farm
3) Hualamphong Station (to purchase 2nd class sleeper train tickets to Suri Thani for Saturday)4) and possibly Cabbages and Condoms for dinner (C&C is an environmentally conscious restaurant with community service projects including PDA which raises aids awareness in at risk populations)
