Squiggles

-Joe

Our epic voyage in France (ending about 14 months ago) was a lot easier than this one.  For one thing, the script here is unintelligible to the untutored American eye.  Just the simple task of getting back to one's apartment at the end of the day requires a crutch that would normally be used by an illiterate child back home: a note describing where I want to go, which someone who reads can use to help me.  In our case, this business-card-sized note was written by the owner of the apartment we are renting, and we shamelessly use it daily.  Check out the little squiggles.  Recall them the next time you wonder what it must be like to be a child and have no idea how to read:

The irony here is that it's such a playful-looking script that one could imagine a child having invented it.
